Basic Research Policy
Basic research is intended to detect and evaluate challenging scientific advances promising for Defence, and to stimulate the development of new concepts and the maturation of emerging technologies, potentially sources of disruption in defence systems.
The DGA’s Basic Research Policy (BRP) document describes both the main scientific topics of interest to Defence and the various funding options used to promote these topics, including partnerships with civilian research.
DGA is open and welcomes collaborative opportunities in basic research, involving the European Defence Agency, the EU research framework programme or bilateral agreements.
The BRP is an abridged translation of a document in French called “document de Politique et d’Objectifs Scientifiques” (often referred to by the acronym POS). It is an evolving document, intended for revision every other year.
