SME/SMI representative

More than 60 % of companies that work with the Ministry of Defence are small or medium sized enterprises (SME).

The Ministry of Defence endeavours to cultivate good relations with its suppliers and has created the SME-SMI office for their benefit; this reports directly to the Minister’s cabinet.

This office is responsible for resolving difficulties encountered by any SME involved with the Ministry of Defence regardless of the department concerned. Much of its work relates to delays in payment, but also involves a wide range of problems such as access to contracts, penalties for delays, defence export procedures, etc.
