Overview

There are more than 200 purchasing units within the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF). The aim of the directory of purchasing units, which is available to all, is to assist ministry suppliers by giving them access to all the information they need about these units (contact point, types of purchase, location etc).

Seeking information

Information may be retrieved in one of two ways:

a) Either via the MINDEF organisational tree structure following the main branches of the organigram of purchasing units (at least 4 levels) i.e. "Command level", "Directorate" "Sub-Directorate" and "Department". These purchasing units are in fact divided amongst the following eight "Command levels":

-  French Army ("Terre")
-  French Air Force ("Air")
-  French Navy ("Marine")
-  French Armament Procurement Agency ("DGA")
-  Defence Staff ("EMA") which incorporates, amongst others, the Defence Medical Service ("SSA") and the Defence Fuel Service ("SEA")
-  Gendarmerie
-  General Secretary for Administration ("SGA")
-  Common Services including organisations directly attached to the Minister of Defence.

b) Or by key word: name or acronym of the unit/command level, type of purchase, town or department.

Presentation of the information

Each purchasing unit is associated with a regularly updated descriptive file containing all relevant information about the unit.

This directory file may also include more targeted information that will enable you to identify directly the correct point of contact, for example:

a) The SME/SMI point of contact that can help you resolve problems when your approaches to the relevant departments have been unsuccessful.

b) The departmental manager responsible for :

-  publicity,
-  administrative aspects,
-  security clearance for companies,
-  financial aspects during contract execution,
-  addressing delays in contract execution,
-  submission for verification and acceptance procedures,
-  disputes associated with the award or execution of the contract.

Note that this directory is only avalaible in french.
