The total number of ordered aircraft is 180, divided as follows:

  Germany: 60
  France: 50
  Spain: 27
   Great Britain: 25
  Turkey: 10
  Belgium and Luxembourg : 8

The first deliveries of the aircraft are expected at the end of 2009. The first flight should be to be carried out in 2008.

South Africa has announced, in April 2005, the acquisition of 8 A400M aircraft.
