The Tiger programme is intended to equip the French, German and Spanish armies with new generation combat helicopters, adapted to the wide variety of scenarios of contemporary use. Spain joined the program in 2004.
It is designed to fulfil all of its missions with the following versions arising from a common platform: the French and Spanish protection support (HAP) and destruction support (HAD) versions and the German (Unterstutzung Hubschrauber Tiger : "UHT") anti-tank support version.
The first Tiger units were delivered in March 2005 to France (in HAP version) and to Germany (in UHT version). "HAD" version units will be delivered since 2010.
The programme has been managed since 1998 by the Tiger programme division of OCCAR in Bonn (Germany). The specific French and German sub-assemblies are respectively managed by DGA/SPAé and by the BWB.
