The METEOR programme is planned to equip the armed services of the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden and France with a medium range air-to-air missile , kinematic performances are clearly superior to those of present operational missiles.

The missile is designed to be used from the Rafale, the Eurofighter and the JAS 39 Gripen.

The first deliveries of the missiles are expected in 2012.

The programme is managed by a international programme office located in the british DPA (Defence Procurement Agency) in Abbey Wood near Bristol (United Kingdom).
