Digital certificates
The digital certificate can be described as a sort of ’passport’ that identifies people across the Internet. It contains information about the holder, such as:
the name and surname of the certificate holder,
the key (called "public key") allowing to authenticate the signature of the certificate holder.
Its goal is to warrant :
the identity of the certificate holder : the certificate enables to authenticate the person who sent the message,
the integrity of the content of the message signed with the digital certificate : the signed data can neither be modified nor be altered during the transmission,
the validity of the commitment : the person sending the data is not able to deny sending these data...
The certificate allows to digitally sign the tenders on the market place.
